Oral Health Status in relation to Salivary Antimicrobial Peptide in Pregnant Women

Background: Oral health is a mirror of general health. During pregnancy, oral affected by changes in saliva and hygiene measures which may lead to more dental caries. Objective: Assess status relation salivary antimicrobial peptides pregnant women. Subjects Method: This cross sectional study was carried out different primary care centers Rusafa sectors/ Baghdad city. The total sample included 80 women (their age range from 21-30). group consisted 40 women: half them were the first trimester others third trimester, while control non-pregnant married females. Dental Plaque recorded according simplified index. caries diagnosed using WHO (2013) criteria. Unstimulated samples collected. Chemical analysis performed for detection human β-Defensin 2. Results: current revealed that experiences (decayed surfaces(DS), missed surfaces (MS) decayed, missing, filled surfaces(DMFS)) higher among than females especially add percentage with no significant differences, (FS) also difference. Regarding plaque index, results had index women, per-centage (53.3%) P value = 0.027. 2 statistically Conclusion: More accumulation during pregnancy explain preva-lence as considered be chief contributing factor
